Jee Wong website
Last Saturday, we went to a concert that featured the pianist Jee Wong. He's not famous or anything but he plays well as of a concert standard and he also plays hymns and praises. Well the 1 and a half hour there was mainly One Heart singing as well as him playing some pieces for us and giving his testimonies of his work as he belongs to an organisation called ASAP. I forgot what it stands for but they help those in need in Southeast Asia particularly those poorer countries like Cambodia and Vietnam. For those of u that did not attend the concert or want to hear some of his pieces u could go to http://www.track10.com/site/artist.php?band_id=5164. His playing is simply awesome. Well someday i wish to play as well as him for the church songs I play. Hard work can bring a person very far.

Singapore 0 Liverpool 5
Yesterday Singapore vs Liverpool kicked off at about 7:15 pm. Before that u could see majority of the supporters decked out in Liverpool shirts making it seem like Singapore was the away team and Liverpool the home team. There was even a banner saying "This is Anfield" which is the home ground of Liverpool. It clearly showed who the Singaporeans were supporting. Liverpool's starting line up was filled with reserve team players and those not of the previous season starting eleven. But Voronin made it 1-0 to LIverpool on the stroke of half time. After the break, quality players were brought on at 45,60 and 75th minutes. Thus destroying any hopes of a Singapore comeback. Liverpool reserve player managed to get 2 goals under his belt, a brace. Torres the star striker got 1 and Riera, Liverpool's left winger got 1 as well. That summed up the score at 5-0 to Liverpool. Liverpool's manager was pleased with the team's performance as it was their first win in pre season and the players played well. Kuyt the man of the match had 3 assists. He was fantastic. Before the match Daniel Bennett, a Singapore defender who is a Singaporean but was born in England supported Singapore to win but was dismayed that many Singaporeans chose to support a foreign team like Liverpool over their own country. After the match, other Singapore players also voiced their displeasure. One of them said that haven't since so many fans in the stadium for quite a long while but was disappointed that not more of them had supported the Singapore team. Another player voiced his disapproval on seeing the banner "This is Anfield" as he totally made Singapore team feel like it was not their home ground. The Liverpool players also commented that this was the place away from home that they felt it was the closest feeling to home with all the supporters and mood. Another epic case of club vs country just that this club belongs to another country.

Beethoven Sonata
Recently, I am just enthralled by Beethoven Sonatas. Particularly the Tempest and Appassionata. I realised that Beethoven music is just so captivating. I like the sonata form and all the music there is in the piece. Well for me i generally prefer the 1st and 3rd movement of pieces including this 2 sonatas. I think it could be bcos that the 2nd movt is slow perhaps. But i do like slow songs too as long as the song is expressive. But i believe i have a preference for faster pieces. Well i have learnt the first movt of the tempest sonata which took me quite long already. But nvm i better get my basics right rather then spend time correcting everything next time. Better build a strong foundation or else u have to start over again. My teacher was telling me that Mozart was difficult to play as u have to play exactly as it is notated. This is unlike Romantic music where one can do some rubato and some even improvise a little. Well for Mozart u have to play very accurately. Actually it is not necessary to improvise the music which the composer has written. I heard pianists do that so that they have a unique style. But i believe that one can do that while being true to the music meaning expressing the composer's intention. But there are different interpretations of the piece and that's what makes Romantic pieces different from Classical and much more captivating in my opinion. But of course Classical music has its own uniqueness that is alluring as well. But i shall not go into that as this post is about my fascination in Romantic music especially that of Beethoven Sonatas. That's about all i have to say for now so until next time :D

Transformers
Last Sunday, a total of 8 of us went to catch a movie "Transformers". We went there early and thus since most of us have not eaten, we went to eat breakfast. The food was at a price i expected but then my fruit punch was $2.50. I was shocked. But then its the price around the town area. Felt like I wasted money on the drink. Well then we went to catch the movie. Some of them bought snacks to bring in but I didn't as I felt I had overspent. We came in slightly late thus missing the advertisements perhaps. We watched the movie which i would say was quite good in terms of action not so for the plot. I didn't really understand everything at first as the robots look the same to me. At the end of the movie, I saw one of the main character name was Megan Fox I was like "Huh that was Megan Fox?". Then Frank said " Ya, u didn't know?". I was like ya never seen her b4. I was like no wonder Suresh like to watch this show. Later went to do group project and obviously there were ppl who were late. We walked around then went to Mcdonalds for someone who hasn't eaten and then brainstormed ideas. Later we went to the library and finally decided on an idea and its uses and its design. It was the foundation for the project. Well later reached home in the evening and relaxed cos my exams had just ended.

Frank gone to Australia
Well the time has come and Frank is now on Australian soil. Wish him all the best in everything. Well last Saturday we went to East Coast beach from around 4pm to 6pm. First, laid the ground sheet then ate some tidbits. Took a group photo and the photographers took some photos of scenery and ppl while we chit chat. Later Olivine suggested all the boys take a group picture. Then she also borrowed Frank's camera and handphone. We made Frank stand in the centre to ensure then it'll be easy for us to throw him in the sea and he fell for our ploy.Well he struggled really violently. First, Joseph got kicked then he let go. That gave Shawn a hard time to contain Frank. At the start, only Joseph, Chih Cheng,Shawn and Suresh were subduing him. The rest of us were just onlookers. After they loss grip due to Frank thrashing about with only Shawn holding Frank, Olivine rallied us to ensure our job was done. I quickly chipped in and grabbed Frank's arm. He rained blows on my arm but i just held on. After that Suresh recovered and both Shawn and Suresh got a firm grip of Frank so I just let go. They were walking towards the sea and on the verge of throwing him in but let go due to Frank's frantic pleas. After that when ppl asked why we didn't manage to throw Frank in Frank said "Even Superman can't throw me in". That was bcos Suresh was wearing a shirt that had a Superman logo on it. The rest of the afternoon was spent talking and building Frank's "shit" u can go to his blog to see it. After that we went back to church for dinner and a durain feast. Yes and Simon came and visited us.. Our long lost friend. Well we caught up with him and stuff and glad to know he's doing fine.

Triple invitations
Well today my Mst week is officially over meaning time to take a break :) Well i think i'll fare okay for 3 of my papers and poorly for 1. Well what's done is done, just got to learn from my mistakes. Wishing myself good marks for the papers. Today I was asked to 3 different dinners. Firstly the 1 which i went to, the one with my 2 good friends. We just ate dinner and played cards and chit chat from 6:30-9pm. A way to celebrate the end of my papers. It had to end early as one of my friend still had a paper tmr. My friend is going overseas for a couple of weeks and so the 3 of us met as he had promised to. The next would be celebrating Sophraine and Shawn's birthday. Well i couldn't make it so just wishing u 2 a Happy Birthday and may all ur dreams come true. Lastly, when exams were over today, my class said that they were going to Sashimi at Pasir Ris to eat and asked me to come along. So many of them asked me and persistently. They brought up many different arguments and persuasions but i had to turn them down unfortunately. For once I took the train with more then half my class back to my station. Quite interesting to note that lots of days are free but when invitations come they tend to clash.

Computer Gaming Vs Music
Well according to my piano teacher, he says that 1 cant do well in both computer games and in music. He says that there are different attributes required to be good in either of them. As far as he is concerned, he has not seen anyone do well in both. They would do well in one and poorly in the other. Well i got to agree with him as i doubt that one has the time to do both whole heartedly but i only wonder if someone has the natural flair for one, how about the possibility of doing well in both? Strangely, I have been improving in computer games recently and u wonder has my piano standard dropped? I don't think so it is rather gradually improving. But say I am improving but not doing Xtremely well in either so i got to say i guess my teacher is right. Yea and from now onwards since I decided to make a stand for music over computer games, that means that I should practice 3 hours of piano everyday. So I'll probably update everyday on the hours i practice. Its meant to make me want to fulfil the hours. It'll be fun I am sure. Just that i think i am just addicted to computer games that dims my omnipresent interest in music. Maybe i ought to create a log or something. I wonder how.
